William “Bill” Knapp, 89, currently residing in LeRoy, MI died Friday, June 4th, 2021 at Cadillac Hospital after a prolonged recovery from COVID. He was surrounded by family when he passed.
Bill was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1932 son of Harold and Lola Knapp. After leaving the Army post WWII, Bill worked diligently at many jobs across the country, from mechanic, to technical writer and later in life with his wife, Sandy, running a small-town cafe. Bill moved many times around the United States and after retirement living in Saint Marys, Georgia, Silverdale Washington, Princeton, Massachusetts and Leroy Michigan where he lavished by his great grandson with love. Bill was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and a faithful member of the church.
Bill’s wife, Sandy, preceded him by 11 years. He is survived by his daughter Michele Hoekelman from Colorado, sons: Harold and daughter in law Janet Knapp from Massachusetts, Andy from Michigan and Robb and daughter in law Leslie Knapp from Washington along with many loving grandchildren; Maia, Jackson, Zach, Aaron, Josh, Jordan, Alex, Joe, and Riley and great grandchild Ashton.
Services for Bill will be private and held in Nebraska so he can be buried with his wife, Sandy.
