Myrtle Jean Harris, age 65 passed away on December 16, 2018 at the Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital. She was born in Cadillac to Orba Z. (Jake) and Alice (Beerens) Wonsey on May 21, 1953. She married Orlo Ray Harris on August 6, 1994 in Lake City, Michigan.
Myrtle formally attended the McBain Christian Reformed Church and the Cadillac Salvation Army. She enjoyed fishing, camping, sewing, doing crafts, and playing games on the computer. She loved working in her vegetable garden and flower gardens, also loved animals, and feeding the birds.
Myrtle is survived by her husband, Orlo Ray Harris of Cadillac, her children, Julie Acheson (Shawn) Vennema of Tustin, Daniel (Kelly) Acheson of Huntingdon, Tn., Aaron (Charity) Acheson of Cadillac, Edwin Taylor of Lansing, David Taylor of Grand Rapids, stepchildren, Vernon Harris of Flint, Jowlen Robertson of Detroit,and Roger (April ) Taylor of Grand Rapids. Surviving grandchildren are, Desaree (Derick) Hadrich, Max Moss, Caleb Hudson, Seirra Hendrick, Nathan Anderson, Requel Serna, Ali Serna, Chance Vennema, Kylie Vennema, Shelby Wilson, Nicholas, Nicholas, Isabella, Abby, & Logan Acheson, Taylor & Tanner Mosteller, and step grandchildren, William, Drake, and Matthew Robertson, Ryan, Nicholas, Tyler, and David Harris, Roger Taylor Jr., and Jake Taylor. She has 12 great grandchildren. Her surviving siblings are, Carol Hoffman of Falmouth, Marjorie (Richard) Racine of Cadillac, Grace Dykhouse of McBain, Joyce (Dee) Lamphere of Evart, Ronald “Butch” (Monika) Wonsey of Lake City, Margaret Lucas of McBain, and sister in-law; Barb Wonsey from Marion.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, George Wonsey and Donald Wonsey, in laws, Richard Lucas, Henry Dykhouse, and Clarence Hoffman, niece, Heidi Wright along with her parents, Orba (Jake) & Alice Wonsey, and mother in law, Edith Harris
Funeral Services will be held at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home on Thursday, December 20 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Boven officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday at the Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9. Burial will be at Mount View Cemetery in McBain. Contributions may be made of one’s choice.
