Mary Elizabeth (Brown, Hooker) Todd passed away on Sunday July 7, 2019 at Munson Hospital Traverse City after suffering with complications from congestive heart failure, she was 95 years young.
Mary was born on July 4, 1924 to Mary J. (Waugh) and Lewis H. Brown in Detroit, Michigan. She moved to Cadillac in 1932 and continued to live the rest of her life in the Lake City and Jennings area. Mary worked at various jobs until she found her work home at Manton Industries, she retired from there in 1984 to care for her mother and raise her grandchildren.
Mary enjoyed and loved her family and was always willing to help any of them in any possible way. She was a life-long member of the Jennings Community Church and looked forward to the day she could go to her heavenly home. She loved nature, hunting, fishing and berry picking in the woods around Jennings. In her later years she enjoyed feeding her birds and loved to sit on her porch and watch them for hours.
Mary is survived by her son Raymond (Mary) Hooker of Jennings, daughter Judith (Patrick) Herringa of Cadillac, Sandy Hooker of Lake City, grandchildren Kathlynn (Allan) Ward, Donovan (Naomi) Fawcett, Angel Clark, Jeremy Hooker, Raymond Hooker Jr., Jennifer Hooker, Kellie Herringa and Karie (Chris Clor) Herringa. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She had some very special friends over the years and would like to include Bonnie Cale and Phyllis Kline as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, James Hooker Jr. and daughter, Alta (Robert) Croton, siblings, Edward (Josephine) Brown, Dorothy (Harley) Schaefer, Louis “Chum”(Dorothy) Brown, Dorothy (Orlin) Cass.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life on August 17, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Jennings Community Church with visitation one hour prior to service with a luncheon to follow at the church. Burial will take place in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jennings. In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to the family.
