Cadillac – Michigan, Jack Douglas Weston of Cadillac, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2019. He was 88 years old.
He was born July 7, 1930 to Glenn and Orpha Weston in Imlay City, Michigan and graduated in 1948 from Imlay City High School. Jack served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After his military service, he returned to Imlay City and worked for Imlay City Oil Company and Pontiac Motors. He married Inez R. Wilson of Pinconning, Michigan in 1955 and together they had three children. They moved to Cadillac, Michigan in 1966 where they owned and operated the South Shore Motel and later built and operated Lakeview Apartments. Jack also worked for Jenkins Oil Co. in Marion, Michigan and later drove school bus for the Cadillac Area Intermediate School District for more than 10 years before retirement. In 1992, he married Kay Halpin.
Jack loved to bowl at the area bowling alleys and enjoyed league and travel bowling for many years. He won the MASTERS Bowling Tournament twice in the 1970’s at Park View Lanes in Cadillac. Jack played the saxophone for many years and could be heard in many night clubs throughout the area and was a member of the Scottville Clown Band for over 30 years.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Orpha Weston, a brother Billy J. Weston, a sister-in-law Carol Weston, and a brother-in-law Harold Schonfeld, all of Imlay City, Michigan.
Jack is survived by his wife Kay Halpin Weston, a sister Dorothy Schonfeld of Imlay City, Michigan as well as his children, Paula (Dan) Crandell of Galesburg, Michigan, Jeff Weston of Cadillac, Michigan, and Jim (JoAnn) Weston of Cadillac, Michigan. Stepchildren include Chris (Penny) Halpin of Pelkie, Michigan, Craig Halpin of North Poke, Alaska and Melanie (Sean) Halpin-Dye of Williamsburg, Michigan. Jack is also survived by a niece, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. In memory of Jack, please consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan.
To honor his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services held at this time.
