Helen Ann Gibbs, age 93, of Falmouth passed away on April 24, 2019 at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital.
She was born on July 1, 1925 at Hamtramck, Michigan to Louis and Stephanie (Jess) Hurtik. Helen married Hersal Eugene Gibbs on August 31, 1946 at Phenix City, Alabama and he preceded her in death; September 10, 2013.
Helen was a party store clerk for many years and she worked as an inspector for Riverside Electric. Helen owned the Green Arrow Restaurant in McBain for 6 years, and had been a waitress at the Marina Restaurant in Cadillac for many years. Helen and her husband sold Christmas trees in the south. She enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, and was a very good cook. She was a member of the McBain United Presbyterian Church for many years.
She is survived by her children; Marlene (Dean) Jenema of Falmouth, Lonnie (Ginny) Gibbs of Cleveland, Georgia, Jennie (Denny) Pruetz of Cadillac, and Jill (Pat) Laurin of Great Falls, Montana. Her surviving grandchildren are, Lorinda (Andre) Bennett of San Antonio, Texas, Jamie (Kristy) Jenema of McDonough, Georgia, Ryan (Beth) Gibbs of Jackson, Georgia, Katie (Ryan) Hartrick of Demorest, Georgia, Jessica Podbilski of Cadillac, Daniel Pruetz & Cathy of Cadillac, Josh Sorenson of Portland, Oregon, and Shane Sorenson of Oshkosh, Wisconsin and her great grandchildren are, Chanceston, Kambrya, Gabriella, Keegan, Trinity, Riley, Bryce, Bristol, Brinlee, Ali, Reid, Jorrdan, Jeiden, Liam, and Carver.
Brother; Emil Hurtik of San Diego, California is also surviving along with many other relatives.
Her surviving brother in-law is Rich Gibbs of Auburn Hills.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Hersal, son; Chris Gibbs, siblings; Barb Hurtik, & Louis Hurtik Jr., in-laws; Keith (Liz) Gibbs, Duane ( June) Gibbs, and Joyce Gibbs.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 27, at 11:00 A.M. at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain with Rev. Steve Boven officiating and burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Marion. Visitation will be on Friday at the funeral home from 4:00P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
