Heather Marie Mead, of Cadillac, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit. She was 35.
Heather was born on August 5, 1978, to Dennis William and Kathleen Lea (Ball) Priestley in Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. She married Josh Mead on January 9, 2009, in Highland Township, Osceola County. She had led a very active life. She held an associate's degree in veterinary science, a teaching degree, a master’s degree in sociology, and she also held a Ph.d. Heather had worked as a social worker for Lake County DHS, Mother Goose Time in Traverse City, taught at Baker College in Cadillac, worked for Olan Mills Photography, Oasis, Meyer Vet Clinic in Cadillac, Meijer Thrifty Acres, and helped Patches and Petals with flowers for weddings and other social occasions. She loved campfires, scrapbooking, knitting, sewing, and lived life to the fullest.
She is survived by her husband, Josh Mead of Cadillac; daughter, Katelyn Jane Priestley of Cadillac; stepson, Brandon Joshua Mead of Cadillac; mother, Kathleen Lea Priestley of Tustin; and a brother, Heath William (Jennie) Priestley of Marion; sisters-in-law, Daniele (James) Barret of Oahu, Hawaii, and Mollie Mead of Ft. Smith, Ark.; maternal grandparents, Vernon Wilson of Caro and Florida, and Charles (Bill) Priestley of Marion; paternal grandparents, Mary Jane (William James) Groff of Sugar Springs, Timothy Harold (Sally) Mead of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Dennis Priestley; grandmothers, Marlene Wilson, and Barb Priestley.
