Frederica Ponstine, age 93, of Cadillac and formerly of rural Marion, passed away at Curry House Assisted Living in Cadillac on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018. Frederica was born on Dec. 5, 1925 in Reeder Township, Missaukee County, to Peter and Tressa (Koetje) Dick. She married Herman Ponstine on Feb. 1, 1946, at the Prosper Christian Reformed Church. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1993.She was a member of the Vogel Center Christian Reformed Church, the Ladies Crusaders, and served with the CRWRC in many areas of the United States and in foreign countries. She delivered Bibles to Burma. She had traveled to China, Nova Scotia, and throughout Europe. Traveling was one of her favorite things along with crocheting, bowling, visiting shut-ins, and spending quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three daughters, Donna (Marvin) Bode of Falmouth, Trish (Den) Agema of McBain, and Deb (Tom) Winkel of McBain. There are 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Surviving brothers are Casper (Georgina) Dick of Jenison and Wilbert (Fran) Dick of Hudsonville, Step brother, Leonard (Lois) Koetje of Grandville and sister in law Mildred Koetje of Zeeland and in-laws, Lambert (Kathleen) Ponstine of Wyoming, Clara Dieterman of Falmouth, and Katherine Bell of Bowling Green, Ohio. Many other relatives also are surviving.
She was preceded in death by two sons, infant Percy Lee Ponstine and Jerry Ponstine, a great grandson, Travis Lee Bode, a sister, Fabena (Elmer) Schepers, Step siblings and in-laws, Willam (Jeanette) Koetje, Clarence (Minnie) Koetje, Bernard Koetje, Maynard Mike (Donna) Koetje, Wilma Knoll and Clarissa (Herm) Webb.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, at the Vogel Center Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Adam Barton officiating. Burial will take place in the Vogel Center Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5:00P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Burkholder Family Funeral Home in McBain. Contributions may be made to Munson Hospice.
