Betty Jean Kanouse, age 93 passed away on December 9, 2018 at Autumnwood of McBain.
Betty was born in Luther on September 16, 1925 to Florence and Ernest Berner.
She married Forest Kanouse on July 20, 1941 in Defiance, Ohio, and resided on their farm until Forest’s death in 1995.
Betty worked on their farm and at their family’s store in Ashton and retired from Evart Products in December of 1985.
Betty was an avid hunter in her day and enjoyed spending time with her family. She and Forest enjoyed spending winters at their Florida home in Zephyrhills. She liked to cook, bake, shop and travel.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Bonnie (Terry) Lockhart of Ashton, Carolyn (Tom) Brunink of McBain, sons Larry (Caro) Kanouse of Luther, Ron Kanouse of Farwell, Doug (Pam) Kanouse of LeRoy, and her beloved sister Evelyn Baker of Laingsburg and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son Jerry, her brothers Ernest, Harold, and Clarence, her sisters and brothers in-law, Margret (George) Stalgatis of Luther, Helen of Lansing, Hope (Fred) Wicker of Lansing, brother in-law Thomas Baker Jr. of Laingsburg, and nephews Kevin Baker of Okemos, and George Gamble of Rockford.
Per Betty’s wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life is planned for a later date, Betty’s family would like to thank all the Autumnwood staff for all their excellent care for Mom.
